Career Opportunity: Executive Director

The Cranbrook & District Community Foundation (CDCF) is a charitable organization that builds and manages permanent endowment funds to support charitable activities in the communities we serve throughout the south east Kootenay region of British Columbia. We are seeking an Executive Director who is enthusiastic about community foundation principles and values, and can provide strategic and operational leadership to take our organization to the next level.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the CDCF’s operations, including:

  • Managing donor relationships and endowment fund development initiatives in order to substantially increase philanthropy and endowment giving within the region.
  • Creating community awareness of the Foundation through effective communications and marketing strategies, including web-based and social media tools.
  • Ensuring proper financial controls are in place and the Board is provided with appropriate and timely budgets, forecasts, financial and operating reports.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of efficient and sustainable administrative systems, operating policies and procedures.
  • Staff mentoring and supervision.

The Foundation is seeking a results orientated business or administrative professional with exceptional organizational leadership skills. Our preferred candidate will have:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in not-for-profit and/or charitable fundraising activities.
  • A provenability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with staff, volunteer directors, donors, community leaders and other charitable organizations.
  • Effective marketing, communication & interpersonal skills, including confidence in delivering presentations to private and corporate sectors, grant providers, donors and government.
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles.
