Remembering Neil Cook
July 26, 2022 – The Board and Staff of the Community Foundation were very sad to learn of the recent passing of Neil Cook, and we would like to share our sincere condolences with Neil’s family and friends.Among his many contributions to the community, Neil was the driving force behind establishing the Cranbrook and District Community Foundation in 2003, which re-branded as the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies in 2018. Neil served on the Community Foundation board for many years, both as a Director and as Board Chair. Neil was very proud of the growth in the Community Foundation’s permanently invested endowment funds as well as the over $1 million that the Community Foundation has shared with more than 300 community projects since 2003, through our annual granting and external funding.
In recognition of his many years of dedicated service to the community, Neil was awarded the Medal of Good Citizenship in 2019 and the Order of British Columbia in 2020.
